A little piece of information for you that I just got from a Frank Kern video.
Frank tells the story of getting this information from John Carlton, who is one of the legendary Copy Writers today.
Here it is. It is simple but effective.
Just come out and tell your customer exactly what you are selling, how it will benefit them and what to do to take action.
There is no need for long copy and beating about the bush. Just come out and say what you want to say. If you have a good product or service, then people will see the value in it and want to know what they need to do next to order.
You may want to take a few sentences to explain each point, but not a few pages. People don’t have time to read through pages of sales copy. They are bombarded with advertising all day and want to get right to the point.
So here is how you structure your message:
1. Here is what I have got….. a couple of sentences explaining what your product or service is.
2. Here is what it will do for you….. a couple of sentences explaining the benefits and uses of the product to make your customers richer, leaner, smarter, sexier etc..
3. Here is what I want you to do next….. give them clear steps to take to go through the ordering process.
This can all be done in one page, or even 3 sentences if you want. If you peak the interest of your customer at this point, you can send them to a website with more information if needed, but there is no need to explain everything all at once.
Give it a try, be direct. Tell your customer to take action and watch the immediate response of eager buyers.
I just used this for a Craigslist post and got a massive response.
