Has anyone in the Atlanta area bought into the new 4G network from Clear?

I’m sure you have seen the ads. all over the place, but how many people have tried it and what do you think of the service?

CLEAR claim to offer mobile internet service at broadband speeds and beyond making slow connections a thing of the past. You can now download movies and watch them from your laptop while on the go.

Hey, I have 6 kids and having access to a laptop that can stream movies while in the car saves me buying a portable tv and movies.

They also offer an in home modem that works just like an air card that you can plug your phone and fax and credit card machines in. I believe it also works with Dish and Direct TV, but I don’t have those services.

The home unit that requires no installation  and a 4G air card with unlimited usage is right around $60 a month. That is quite a savings compared to the $45 a month I was paying for Comcast plus the $60 a month air card I had for my laptop (which I usually went over the usage and cost me hundreds more in fees). The phone is an extra $25 a month and has all the features and more that AT&T and Comcast are charging $60 for.

You can also get 2 4G air cards for the same $60 a month. This would be ideal for students living together in dorms and wanting to split the fees for internet service.

Looks like it is quite a savings. I need to hear from some people from the Atlanta area who have the service and let me know what you think before I drive up from the beach in Destin to check it out myself.

This makes a lot of sense if the service is good. There will be a lot of people who will want faster speed for half the price. I will be looking for sales reps to work around Atlanta and around the country as they open in new markets. The compensation for the company I am looking at is very good and CLEAR will be in 80 markets which will give service to 120 million people by the end of 2010, so it is going to move fast once it gets going.
